This year, I turned 35 years old. I was at the lowest point I had been in my life in terms of my health. I knew something had to change, but I didn’t know what to do. In the depths of despair, I went to see a doctor for weight loss. Eat this, don’t eat that, take this pill, and come back in a month. I KNEW there had to be a better way.

I have struggled with weight most of my adult life. I have tried a little bit of everything in the past – calorie counting, counting points, fad “diets.” I would have some success with these methods, but it was nothing that I could stick with long term.

I have friends at work that have done the Clean Kitchen 12 Week Challenge and live the CK way of life. They encouraged me to sign up for Clean Kitchen and just do it. Without giving myself time to think too much about it or talk myself out of it, I enrolled for the Winter 2018 challenge.
The past 12 weeks have gone by so fast for me. This program is designed for anyone to be successful. I’m not sure how they’ve done it, but the daily lessons are timed perfectly. You get what you need when you need it. I also had a great coach who guided me, coached me, encouraged me, and helped me see the positive – even when I didn’t want to.
As a result of my CK experience, I lost a total of 18 pounds and 23.75 inches. It has been amazing to see the changes that happen simply from changing what goes in my body. I went from feeding my body garbage to feeding my body the things that it needs to function better. I have a whole new perspective on food. And the best part was that I didn’t go hungry at all. As a matter of fact, I have been eating more food than I used to. It’s just wholesome, healthy food. No gimmicks, no pills, no counting anything – just simple habits that are easy to integrate in to day to day life.
In addition to the physical changes on the outside, my blood pressure is lower, my lipid panel has improved greatly, and my glucose levels are better than what they were.
Although the 12 weeks are over, I’m already enrolled in the Clean Kitchen 2.0 program and I have signed up for a Versus boot camp. I lost a lot during the 12 week program, but gained so much more! I am excited to see where the next phase leads. I like to tell people that if I can do this, anyone can! It has been life changing.
My journey isn’t over yet, it’s only just beginning. Are you ready to begin your journey? Check out the next Clean Kitchen 12 Week Challenge details and sign up!

780+ pounds gone and over 100 lives changed.

And this happened in 12 Weeks. The knowledge and habits developed during these past 12 weeks will carry them onward to week 13 and beyond! We created Clean Kitchen Challenge not as a weight-loss program, but more as a lifestyle program. Our goal is not for our clients to “lose the most weight.” Our goal is for our clients to develop skills and strategies to help them make healthy eating and choices a lifestyle that will carry them much longer than just a short 12 weeks. Congrats to everyone. Your coaches are so proud of all the progress you have made, including the non-scale victories!

Below are a handful of clients who turned in progress pictures for the progress picture vote of “most visual change.” The voting is anonymous, as are the client pictures! The picture with the most votes wins $1000 CASH!!

You are waiting…

Standard

Many people ask me about the CK Challenge and many are hesitant to commit. I get it. It’s a large chunk of change that you are investing in a program you haven’t experienced yet. So you do the cheapest route and wait, maybe just buy the CK cookbook. But in reality, you don’t need more healthy recipes, you need a change of heart and mind that only a learned lesson can give you.

I find most people are in this “waiting” period. Is there ever going to be the best time to rearrange your normal habits? Sorry, nope. There is never going to be a time you are “not busy” or “have more time” to devote to the change. Life keeps going and will stay the same no matter what, unless you intervene.

Waiting for the right time to invest in your body and health is the same as saying “I don’t care enough to change right now.” That may be a little harsh, but it’s the honest truth. You will care later in life. I understand sometimes health takes a backseat to other obstacles in our lives, but choosing to eat a plant over a donut has nothing to do with whether or not you had a bad day. And it takes nothing but a choice to choose water over sweet tea at lunch. Small choices add up, so do not think to be “healthy” you have to do everything right. I certainly have made a lot of mistakes, but I count those a lessons learned that made me better in the long run. Personally, I believe it would best to not get a point in your life where you regret not taking care of your health.

You have the chance now, no matter your age. Anyone in any situation can benefit from learning healthy lifestyle habits. There are a lot of “experts” and programs out there that promise results. You can get results doing just about anything. But the real question is, are those going to be short-term results or a long-term lifestyle? The CK Challenge has one goal: to make you self-sufficient and make sure you truly understand a realistic view of health and what you can achieve as a normal-working-everyday-type of person that can’t spend 2 hours a day in the gym or in the kitchen—not a professional athlete or model you see on social media. I believe with all my being everyone should go through the CK Challenge, not for the success of the program, but because I know how it changes people. Truly. Now is your time so don’t let this pass…again.

Pictured above is my (Jamie) March 2011 “before” picture.  Before I started my journey. Before I knew what I know now. Before I even dreamed that one day I could coach someone else to try to be better. I am so proud of this before picture. I only wish I had more pictures to remind me how far I have come.

These are Coach Stephanie’s before and after pictures, 6 months apart, from 5 years ago. Technically, Coach Stephanie was my “first” CK Client before there was ever a Clean Kitchen!

Winter 2018 Clean Kitchen 12 Week Challenge starts on January 21! Registration closes on Jan 19.

Belinda Teston: The Slump

Standard

By Belinda Teston

I was in a perpetual slump.  I worked out at Versus Strength & Conditioning at least 3 times a week and I had heard about Clean Kitchen program, but lacked confidence in my ability to actually do it.  I have done gym challenges where I would lose weight but then sadly, gained it back slowly. I did not realize that I was sabatoging my own progress by not really changing what counts…my habits.

My fast-food ritual of eating made me feel sane in this crazy world.  I had become comfortable with my unhealthy eating habits. These eating habits had developed by convenience and stress, which in-turn, caused my excess body fat to go up and my self-confidence dropped. I would rationalize my reasons for overeating.  Pigging-out was a way to self-medicate my tension. I felt like I needed these foods and that I deserved to eat these foods even though I knew they were doing to me.

Then Clean Kitchen 12 Week Challenge absolutely changed my life.

Changing my life, saved my life.

Standard

By Will Easterling

About mid-way through the Clean Kitchen 12 week challenge, it hit me. I realized at that point in time, that Clean Kitchen didn’t just “change” my life in so many positive ways, I began looking at CK as “saving” my life. I began to realize how much this program was going to positively affect the quality of my life and actually help lead to a longer life as well. And by living a longer, healthier life, I thought about how many more great memories I will have now have spending time with my family and doing all the things I love to do. I realized that the nutritional habits we create today not only affect us in the short-term, but they most likely have even greater long-term affects.

“I came to a point where I wanted to make sustainable changes, but I didn’t know how. There are too many “diets” out there promising “this and that” which made the change I desired and needed way too confusing. So for years, I chose to do nothing.”

The Suck

Standard

By Jamie Page

I have watched countless people start the process only to completely stop right before the real change can happen. And yes, I mean people I have coached personally and there was nothing I could have said or done to get them past the hump. I have also watched hundreds of people wait through “the suck” and come out the other side winning.

We can’t predict how fast progress will come, we can only control how we get there. We tell all our clients who come through the CK 12 Week Challenge in the first month you are fighting against every fad-diet you’ve had results with. You are going against the grain of everything you see in magazines and social media. You have to ignore your friend’s “20 pounds lost in 2 weeks” results with the latest-and-greatest supplement. And it sucks having to trust a process that is so simple you think to yourself, “there is no way this is right.”

But that is just it. It is really so simple. If you can be really consistent with simple, you can have amazing results, and even better an amazing quality of life FOREVER.

But let me tell you 3 reasons why you think it sucks.

Sound Bites: Month 2

Standard

Month 2 of the Clean Kitchen Challenge is a really important phase for clients. Month 2 is when things really start clicking and clients start trusting the process. We asked clients in a survey, how do you feel your CK experience has gone so far? Here is what they had to say about implementing their new habits and coaching of the 12 Week Challenge.

“I thought the “habits” were too simple to really make a difference. But it works. We haven’t found ourselves unprepared in any situation.”

“I love the speed at which new information is being given. It isn’t overwhelming. I have also found this program easy to follow.”

“I love the four simple habits and that I’m actually doing them. Grocery shopping is fun and meal prepping has changed my life. I no longer stress about what to fix for dinner.”

“…it is becoming second nature now to think before I eat something or buy anything at the grocery. I am pleased with the food prep, planning and no food waste! CK has been encouraging but not micro managing this process.”

“It’s real life. It’s a choice that isn’t made once a day, it’s making the right choices all day long.”

“Even though I may not have always logged by food, I still followed the habits and (progress) shows by the weight loss and my energy level!”

“I’m encouraged that the habits are becoming more automatic for me. I feel like it’s taking less brain power to map out my meals and I love that!”

“I was pleasantly surprised at how easy to understand the process has been. The app has been a great tool. I have a much better understanding of nutrition in general now.”

“It has taught me to make smarter choices and about proper portion sizes. I have found out that many foods I used to eat that I thought were healthy were not what the said they were. Also, I love the support and encouragement from all of the coaches!!! They rock!”

Yes, dudes need CK too.

Standard

It is not surprising that we get majority of women who sign up for Clean Kitchen 12 Week Challenge. But we do have those few brave men who take action. And when they go all in the results are amazing! Check out the beginning story of Justin’s journey. We are so proud of the change and progress you have made, not only physically, but that whole mindset change too!

By Justin Esser

I played sports all through my childhood and into college, and I could generally eat whatever I wanted and still feel and look fit. I never really had a problem with weight, and because of that I guess I thought that I knew enough about what was good or bad for you. Fast-forward 15 years and my mindset about how my body processed food never changed. I mean home-made spaghetti, or pork chops with mashed potatoes and gravy have to be better than McDonald’s, right? I didn’t need any help (I thought) – I wasn’t skinny, but I didn’t really think of myself as too fat…

A few years ago I started to notice that all I had the energy to do was go to work, play with the kids for a few minutes when I came home, and then go to bed. My family was getting the short end of the stick and I felt tired and slow all the time. I knew that I could probably do a better job eating a little healthier, but I really just felt like I needed to be more active. I would join a gym and be super dedicated to 2-day per week workouts for every bit of 2 weeks, and then something would derail me. Six months later I would do the same thing – gym, kill it for 2 weeks, and then fall off again.

In January of 2017 I was the heaviest I had ever been at 246 pounds. I was really starting to be embarrassed about how I looked and how clothes fit me, and could really tell that any physical exertion just about required an oxygen tank. I knew I had to make a serious change.

Before I joined Clean Kitchen, I honestly thought it was just a “girl” thing and not many dudes actually signed up for the program. But I wasn’t getting any younger and definitely wasn’t getting any thinner, so I thought I would kinda secretly join Clean Kitchen to lose a little weight and start to get back in shape. I quickly found out that CK was a legit nutritional/educational program created by people who really care about helping others lead a healthier lifestyle, and that literally anyone could benefit from it. CK showed me that I was using the wrong foods to fuel my body, and expecting those foods to do things for me that they just weren’t designed to do.

About the program:

The program is web-based which makes it real easy to follow. You receive daily emails with checklists and lessons full of information, assignments to help you practice the habits, and even though they came to me daily I never felt like there were too many. The coaches do an incredible job of educating you on the fundamentals of nutrition and build your knowledge at a very easy pace over the 12 week program. Coaches are easy to talk to and quick to answer any questions that you have (Kellar was clutch here!).

The best part of the program for me is that it prepares you for the rough days. When you’re busy, don’t feel great, or just want to eat whatever you want to eat – good habits start to kick in and you aren’t as vulnerable to making poor decisions.

I’m pretty analytical and don’t typically do something just because I’m told its good for me. But explain to me why its good, and I’ll do it forever! This program gives you the knowledge and confidence to continue a healthier lifestyle beyond the 12 weeks.

My progress:

I lost 29 pounds and a total of 29.4 inches.

T1D + CK

Standard

By Heather Williams

I’ve been a Type-1 Diabetic going on 15 years.

Living with T1D is a full-time balancing act requiring constant attention to avoid acute, life-threatening hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) or the long-term damage done by hyperglycemia (high blood sugar). Blood sugar levels must be monitored with finger pricks throughout the day and night. Insulin doses must then be carefully calculated based upon activity and stress levels, food intake, illness and additional factors. These calculations are rarely perfect resulting in tremendous ups and downs and mental exhaustion.

People with Type 1 have a life expectancy that is 12 years shorter, on average, than that of the average population. I refuse to accept this statistic and will do everything that is within my control to live a long, active and healthy life. This is why I signed up for the Clean Kitchen 12 week Challenge.

With weight gain from medications and it being a constant battle to stay in good control, I wanted to see if Clean Kitchen could help with my eating habits, which in return would help my blood sugar levels.

My fasting blood sugar was a little high on Day 1 of Clean Kitchen. But after 12 weeks in Clean Kitchen my basal insulin was reduced by 45%, my bolus insulin reduced to 0.5-1, and lowered Hg a1C by 0.3.

I could not be happier with the results. I feel better, have great energy, slept better, and lost extra weight I had picked up. But the biggest difference Clean Kitchen made was in my diabetes. And for that I will be forever thankful. I lowered my hemoglobin a1c from 6.8 to 6.5 (which is awesome), and I did it while reducing my basal insulin consumption by 45% and drastically reducing my bolus insulin for food intake!

I lost 10 pounds and 16 inches from my body!

Thank you Coach Anna, Coach Stephanie, and to everyone at Clean Kitchen for helping me make this possible and help me feel in control of my T1D!
